On January 19th, 2018, students of the group PR-403 of Educational and Research Institute of Law with their tutor Liudmyla Shapenko, visited the monument of Saint Andrew the Apostle.
The monument of Andrew the Apostle is located in the historic center of the city near Askold's grave. It was built in 2000 on the occasion of the 2000th anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. The sculpture to the holy patron saint of Ukraine is the embodiment of faith and life patience. It reminds us of the ancient times when Christianity came to our land, which is now the basis of Ukrainian culture and spirituality. Andrew the First-Called was one of the twelve apostles and disciple of Jesus Christ, who became the first enlightener and preacher of Christianity in the lands of Ukraine and the founder of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Our ancestors also associated with his name the foundation of Kyiv. After all, according to the legend, the Holy Apostle had been traveling with the Christian preaching, put the first cross and consecrated the land on the slopes of the Dnieper, where Kyiv was built later. This event allowed students not only to deepen their knowledge of history of Ukrainian culture, but also to learn a part of the spiritual heritage of their people. The excursion favored the formation of moral and ethical values in modern youth.
