On December 7-8, 2017, the International Conference "Security, Extremism, and Terrorism" was held in Podgayske city (Slovakia), the co-organizer of which was the Educational and Scientific Law Institute (ESLI) of NAU, the Eastern European Development Agency, the European Institute for Continuing Education, the International Committee for the Suppression of Terrorism, Organized Crime and Corruption (ICOCRIM) (Slovak Republic).
In the discussion of important security issues participated: Josef Zyatko – the director of the Eastern European Development Agency, the president of the European Institute for Continuing Education, the head of the Slovak Bureau of the International Committee for the Suppression of Terrorism, Organized Crime and Corruption (ICOCRIM); Milan Marcinek - Professor at the Police Academy in Bratislava; Vlastimil Vitsen - Vice-Rector of the High School of Economics and Management Public Administration in Bratislava; Wojciech Jurchak - Professor of the General Shtafanik’s Staff Academy of Armed Forces; Victoria Cherevatyuk - Director of the Center for Air and Space Problems of the ESLI NAU; Valerij Fateev - President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Explosives and other participants. During the conference, participants considered issues related to the EU counterterrorism policy, focusing both on organizational and preventive methods and on more radical measures, which are needed to respond quickly to current challenges. The conference participants welcomed the initiative of the European Commission to establish an EU Defense Fund, organized to support technological research in the defense sector. As for Ukraine, the problem aspects of the European security policy in the area of counter-terrorism, which are manifested at the present stage, are relevant in view of the need to take European experience into account in order to improve the mechanisms of implementation of the state anti-terrorism policy.
