On November 15th, 2017 the Department of Civil Law and Trial of the Educational and Research Law Institute held a scientific and methodological seminar on the theme “Intellectual Property in the Higher Education System”.
The following participants took part in the seminar: Tetyana Vakhonyeva, Dsc (Law), Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Labour Law and Social Security Law of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University; Oleksandr Skurenko, the Head of the Department of Economics and Intellectual Property Statistics of the State Enterprise “The Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property”; Oleg Drozdovych, the Senior Partner of JSC “Drozdovych, Ugryn & Partners”, lawyer, representative in the intellectual property affairs (patent attorney); Alla Smorodyna, postgraduate student of the Institute of State and Law named after V. Koretskyi of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Anton Prudyus , a partner of JSC “Drozdovych, Ugryn & Partners”, lawyer; Oksana Dzyuba, methodist of higher category of the teaching and methodical department of the NAU; scientific and pedagogical staff and students of the Institute. During this event the participants discussed the following topics: trends in the development of the intellectual property field in 2017; intellectual property in higher educational institutions: statistical dimension; legal regulation and procedure for observance of copyright of scientific and pedagogical workers; intellectual property budget; legal regime of domain names; scope of rights to the objects of intellectual property rights granted under the licensing agreement in accordance with the civil law of Ukraine. “The future of mankind depends on its ability to produce new results of creative, intellectual activity and the ability to use them in a timely manner, and the very strategy of economic and social transformations in the system of higher education can only be provided at the expense of the innovative orientation of the national economy” – concluded the participants of seminar.
