On September 12, 2017, in the context of the English-language course "Critical thinking and the advocacy as the foundation of a free society", that was held for the students of the Educational and Scientific Law Institute, Lauren Lambert, the American lawyer, expert of Lewitt Institute of International Development (USA) held the first lesson.During the lesson, students discussed with the speaker the peculiarities of the USA legal system. The lecturer noted that in the US state system, which is based on the separation of powers and the rule of law, the judiciary acts as independent carriers of broad power. "Judiciary functions as a counterweight to possible unconstitutional acts and actions of legislative and executive bodies. At the same time, it ensures the constitutional legitimacy and protection of the rights of citizens. The courts not only apply laws and legal acts, but they are actually involved in rulemaking," he said.
