From May 17th to August 17th, 2017 Ganna Grabovska, the associate professor of the Department of Civil Law and Trial of the Educational and Research Law Institute, under the organizational support of the Ukrainian and American Association of Higher Education Workers (UAACE) was trained in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
The goal was to research the intellectual property rights defense on the example of the Cook County of Chicago and to conduct a comparative analysis of US law with Ukrainian law. In the process of passing a scientific internship, Ganna Grabovska has collected scientific materials and information on the activities, powers and functions of the US Patentand Trademark Office – the department on Inventions and Trademarks of the United States, as well as the US Copyright Office - the copyright department, analyzed the legislation on intellectual property: US Constitution, USC – US set of laws, CFR – the Collection of Federal Rules, MPEP – Manual on Patent Examination Procedure, methods of the intellectual property rights defense were investigated, special attention was paid to judicial copyright defense. Ganna Grabovska’s practical experience during her stay in the United States will be used in the process of training students and in the research activities of faculty members working on the state budget theme “Improving the mechanism of protection and defense of copyright and the related rights in Ukraine”.
