May 15, 2017 representatives of Education and Research Institute of Law (Department of Theory and History of State and Law) held a lecture on theme "Ivan Skoropadsky - Hetman of the Cossack state" for the students of the 1st year.
This event is dedicated to the celebration of the 370th anniversary of Ivan Skoropadsky - Hetman of Left-bank Ukraine in 1708-1722, a prominent Ukrainian political, state and military figure. Ivan Skoropadsky’s Hetmanate was the one of three political centers of the Ukrainian state at that time. There were made all attempts to acquisition of independence and strengthening of Ukrainian rights and liberties. Despite repeated attempts of Ukrainian autonomy limitation, the Hetman strongly supported the development of Ukrainian culture, including publishing Ukrainian books, building and reconstruction churches, improving settlements and providing roads and mail. At the end of the lecture, students made conclusions that the Hetman Ivan Skoropadsky and his activity had a positive imoact on formation of Ukrainian statehood, protection Ukrainian people and its national identity.
