On April 21, 2017 the Educational and Research Institute of Law together with the Family Center – a structural unit of Solomenskiy district State Administration in Kiev conducted the roundtable discussion for students "Violance in a family: legal and social aspects".
The moderators of the event were: Candidate of Law Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of Department of Theory and History of State and Law Natalia Pylgun and social worker of the Family Center of Solomenskiy district State Administration in Kiev Yaroslav Skrypalovskyy. During the roundtable the following issues of social state operation in Ukraine were discussed: child abuse in a family; public policy in addressing the social protection of children in dysfunctional families; violence in a family and its prevention; social vulnerability of elderly people; powers of Child Protection Services for the prevention of violence in a family and their role in the process of state formation in Ukraine. During the discussion the students also watched thematic videos, then they discussed and summarized existing social problems in Ukrainian society, moral and ethical qualities of parents of a risk group. At the end of the discussion, the participants concluded that there is a necessity to implement anonymous counseling centers for children and adolescents that provide social and psychosocial assistance to youth in Kyiv, and also to strengthen the work of bodies and institutions which are responsible for the implementation of measures to prevent violence in a family.
