On December 20, 2016, the students of the group PR-304 of Educational and Research Institute of Law, accompanied by the mentor Oksana Myronets visited the monument to Bogdan Khmelnitsky and the main New Year tree of Ukraine.
The monument is most known city monument, an original symbol of Kiev. It is put up in honour of hetman Bogdan Khmelnitsky, who went down in a history of Ukraine as an outstanding commander, statesman, headed the revolt of Ukrainian people against Rech Pospolitaya rule. The pedestal of the sculptural composition is rather low, besides, it is accessible to all-round visibility and gives an opportunity to take a good look at all composition details, which are worked out very carefully. The students learned that the idea of the sculpture has been given by Mikhailo Maksymovych and Mykola Kostomarov, and it was made in 1879 in St. Petersburg. On July 11th, 1888, during the celebrating in Kiev of the 900 anniversary of Russia christening, the monument to Bogdan Khmelnitsky was finally installed and sanctified.
