On November 21, 2016, according to Decree of the President of Ukraine "On celebration of to the 40th anniversary of the Ukrainian Community to promote Helsinki Accords implementation" on April 4, 2016, and to commemorate this event, testify its importance for the development of a democratic state and civil society, promote the development of public human rights activities, the meeting Center for mediation was conducted at Education and Research Institute of Law.
Maksym Ahanov, the student of the group PR-405 researched the history of Ukrainian Helsinki Group, noting that it was the first legal human rights organization in the Soviet Ukraine, which activities attracted the attention of progressive world community to the problems of the Ukrainian nation, rights and freedoms of citizens implementation in times of totalitarian Soviet regime, promoted the formation of a single national human rights Centre, played a positive role in the consolidation of the opposition movement in Ukraine, started nonviolent, legitimate and legal way of Ukraine's independence, formation of democracy, respect for human rights. The student of the group PR-201 Oleksandr Vakarov reviewed the main activities of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Group in modern Ukraine, which is the largest association of human rights organizations in our country, which unites 29 human rights, not state organizations. Its purpose is the protection of human rights as the part of Helsinki movement that continues the traditions of Ukrainian Helsinki Grope promoting the Helsinki Accords implementation. The activity of the Union plays an important role in the protection of human rights, many things are made by its participants and partners to successfully and fully implement the human rights, function the civil society, make the democratic state in modern Ukraine.
