On April 6th, 2016 assistant professors of department of constitutional and administrative law of Educational and Research Institute of Law Yulia Yurinets and Igor Rozum conducted an excursion for the students of academical groups PR-202 and PR-302 to the outstanding architectural monument, the oldest monument of the capital of Ukraine - column of Magdeburg law.During the excursion students attention were focused on the fact, that the monument had been erected in honor of returning to Kiev the Magdeburg law in 1802, which became a legitimate means and at the same time the legal basis for obtaining a certain autonomy of the citizens from the state in conditions of crisis of the feudal-serf-owning system and the formation of bourgeois relations and also strengthening of police-bureaucratic system aimed at the complete elimination of even the mention of the Ukrainian autonomy. For the central government giving the city of Magdeburg law was an important factor in public administration, which allowed to expand at the expense of the citizens its own social base and to exert pressure on the aristocracy.
