In 2015 October the students of the groups PR-103, PR-304 Educational-scientific Institute of Law, accompanied by the mentors Marina Zelenova and Anna Omelchenko visited the Church of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
During the tour students learned about the history of Foundation of the Lavra and its main shrines. Also, the students attended divine service, which took place in the main temple of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – Pechersk great Church (the Dormition Cathedral), which is opposite the Holy gates, in the middle of the Central square of the Upper Lavra. This temple, one of the most ancient in Kievan Rus, has a special place in the life of the Orthodox Church and in native culture. With its creation opened a new page in the history of old Russian architecture and icon painting. No Church in ancient Russia was not as respected as the Great Cathedral Church of the Pechersk monastery. All the main shrines of the monastery were always kept in the Great Church. Under the floor of the great Church were buried the remains of many Russian princes, hetmans, and Kievan Governor, metropolitans, bishops and archimandrites. Visiting shrines is of great importance for the whole Orthodox world. This tour allowed students to get acquainted with spiritual and cultural heritage of past generations, but also left a lot of positive emotions and impressions.
