On the 15th of March, 2015 the students of the groups PR-104, PR-301, PR-303 of Law Institute with the tutors Oksana Myronets and Iryna Tymkovych made the walk to the old part of our capital that is Podil. Podil is one of the oldest historical districts of Kyiv, and its name comes from the settlements that were located "by valley", that is in the valley of the Dniper.
There were markets, first drug shops, a mill, water, a powerstation, and there is still the first institution of higher education of Ukraine that is Kyiv Academy named after P. Mohyla. According to quantity of monuments that have historical value, memorial buildings and architectural monuments this part of Kiev is the leader among the districts of the capital. The students saw the monument to G. Skovoroda, that was created in 1977; the fountain "Samson" or "Lion", that is the monument of architecture and art hydraulic of 1748-1749; the monument to Hetman P. Konashevych-Sahaydachny that is one of the youngest monument in Kiev, which was established in May 2001. Very interesting and informative for students was to walk on Podil, which provided an opportunity to see and learn about the past and present of the old district of Kyiv, which is still being rebuilt, revived, and becomes more beautiful.
