November 20, 2014 associate Professor of civil law and procedure of Law Institute Nicholas Kagad for pupils of 11 classes conducted lectures on "juvenile Delinquency" in the specialized school №115 and the secondary school №69 of Solomianskyi district of Kyiv.
During the meeting Nikolay Kagadi stressed that the fight against juvenile delinquency is one of the major problems of the Ukrainian society. The increase in juvenile crime is primarily connected with the socio-economic crisis, accompanied by deformation of the fundamental moral and ethical values. Victims of juvenile offenders are usually animals, the elderly, peers or younger person. A significant portion of crimes juveniles seen as the manifestation of age-related immaturity, mischief (small theft in the school, shop, bullying among adolescents, taking money from younger and so on), therefore, they are not reported to the police, resulting in the growth of their latency. Associate Professor cited statistics showing that in the current year juvenile delinquency in Kiev has decreased in comparison with previous years - by 51.6 % (from 155 to 75). At the same time, 46 % decreased and the number of children who have committed criminal offences (from 98 to 53). One of the main directions of educational work with children and young people is preventive education and prevention efforts to address juvenile crime. Analysis of the status of juvenile delinquency gives grounds to consider overcoming the crime situation in children and youth problem is urgent for society.
