Dear Colleague!

You became a student of unique university, which belongs to the most prestigious technical universities in our country and known abroad. National Aviation University - one of the powerful and most famous aviation higher educational institutions in the world, was founded as an independent Kyiv Aviation Institute, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR on August 25, 1933 № 1815. Later its name changed: Kyiv Institute of Civil Air Fleet (1947), Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation (1965), Kyiv International University of Civil Aviation (1994), National Aviation University (2000).
National Aviation University today - a well planned and implemented in architectural structures complex educational and laboratory buildings, most of which are connected by transitions, unique exposition of State Aviation Museum of Ukraine and the hangar to accommodate aviation equipment, multi student dormitories and staff housesMedical Center with sanatoria for students and staff, beautifully equipped and decorated scientific and academic libraries with reading rooms, student club, internet cafe, student bistro, Center of culture and Arts with the auditorium of 1500 seats and space for training amateur groups, sports complex and other buildings.
Over years of its activity University has trained many tens of thousands specialists and masters candidates and doctors for different sectors economy of Ukraine, well as for more than 150 countries worldwide. Among them are prominent scientists, teachers, military, leaders of various companies, enterprises, organizations and institutions.
Among the university graduates are Academician of RAS P.Bilyanin, memberes of the NAS of Ukraine O.Aksonov, M.Holeho, L.Hrom-Maznichevskyy, Honored Scientist of Ukraine P. Nazarenko, Lenin Prize laureates, professors V.Krylov, H.Maykopar, State Prize Laureates, Professors Ya.Parhomovskyy, M.Vehera, Heroes of the Soviet Union Yu.Kudrin, L.Svitovenko, Heroes of Socialist Labor I.Ivanenko, V.Skubilin, generals S.Kalitsov, Yu.Latysh, L.Melnyk, M . Pride of the University - his graduate outstanding scientist in the field aviation and astronautics, general designer of space rocket systems, twice Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR, Academy V.Chelomey. It is an invaluable contribution of university in the development of air transport industry of the CIS countries - its graduates make up more than 50 technical staff of aviation companies.
International recognition of the contribution of the university in the global civil aviation, aviation science and technology, in the preparation of aviation specialists are presenting in 1985 a member of the NAS of Ukraine O.Aksonovu, who at that time was its rector, the highest award of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ISAO ) - Prize Edward Warner.
The University has and always had a high scientific and pedagogical potential. Its decoration is a whole galaxy of world level scientists, including academics: O. Organization of educational process at the University is based on credit-modular system, which provides modular structuring of educational material and a rating system for evaluating the level of acquired knowledge and skills on a 100-point scale.
So carefully read with the Regulations on the organization of the educational process at the university on the basis of credit-modular system, which is located in the "Learning Process" on the Web-site university.
Modular technology education - is one of the modern educational technology, which provides a modular (block) construction of teaching material and its assimilation through consistent and thorough elaboration of training modules, motivation-based learning goals, many independent educational-cognitive activity of students and various forms of diagnostic level of his knowledge and skills.
Training Module - is logically complete, relatively independent, integral part of the course, the combination of theoretical and practical tasks of the content and structure with developed system of teaching and individual technological support necessary component of which is the appropriate form of current and final rating control.
Credit (credits) - a unified unit performed as student of classroom and self-study work.
Rating system evaluation - a system of determining the quality of student of academic work performed and the level of acquired his knowledge and skills, which includes assessment scores in all the results achieved during the current, modular and term control.
Rating (rating score) - a quantitative assessment of student achievements by multi-scale during the performance of a predetermined set of learning tasks.
The purpose of the introduction of credit-modular system at the University is the intensification of the educational process and improve the quality of training through:
- Stimulate systematic and qualitative as classroom as well independent work of students during the semester;
- Exclusion of fruitless for their ultimate essence "assaults" during examinations, thus reducing peak psychological and emotional overloads of both students and teachers;
- Motivate students to acquire knowledge and skills, as well as responsibility for the results of their own learning activities;
- Provide mobile feedback teachers with students during the semester;
- Instilling students with a sense of academic discipline;
- Increase the objectivity of evaluation of students acquired knowledge and skills.
University cares its name and reputation and certainly fulfills the requirements of the standard of higher education. Therefore, throughout the period of study for all students placed high enough requirements for mastering academic disciplines.
Long practice of the educational process in the university indicates that, despite all the measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of training, some first-year students experiencing significant difficulties in learning, first of all disciplines of basic training (higher mathematics, physics, chemistry and other).
These problems are associated with both insufficient schooling as well difficulties adapting freshmen to study at university.
Lecture form of teaching learning material in large streams, need to fulfill and protect a large amount of homework, labs, etc., and the passage of the current, modular and term control in strict deadlines requiring students to a high degree of self than most freshmen, unfortunately, not owns.
All this combined with inadequate psychological readiness to study at university, lack of skills of independent work often lead to a systematic failure to schedule of the educational process during the semester. As a result, there is an academic obligation.
A student is considered as having academic debt if it is not fulfilled for no reason current control measures (homework, lab work, etc.) has not been successfully control module or semester in terms established the training process schedule in the current semester.
Students who have academic debts on the basis of module control, the term control is not allowed.
According to the academic regulations, students with outstanding academic results for term control of three or more disciplines, deducted from the university.
Repeated passage of semester control to eliminate academic arrears in one or two subjects that remained after the scheduled passage term control is permitted only until the next semester.
The University is interested in providing future professionals deep fundamental, professionally oriented and practical training. Therefore, in order to provide a more thorough assimilation of students learning the material, the number of subjects in each semester does not exceed seven or eight.
In order to inculcate students with responsibility for the consequences of its training activities while at university and work on their individual skills of independent learning of student classroom does not exceed 25-30 hours for Bachelor program and 18 hours - for the Master Programme. After the theoretical training for each course at the University of passage provided training or practice.
Dear Colleague! If you have any questions during your stay at university you can apply to the curator of the academic group, appointed from among experienced teachers graduating department.
Curator of the academic group will acquaint you with the features of the educational process at the University, advises how to plan preparation classes, current, and modular term control, and if necessary - will give recommendations on the elimination of academic debt, help organize additional classes of those disciplines which you may have problems, and so on.
But you must understand that everything depends on you, of your desire to get an elite education and take their rightful place in society.
