Criminal legal protection of human and civil rights in the context of the adoption of the new Criminal Procedure Code
In April 2013 the methodical cabinet of the Legal Institute in cooperation with the Department of Criminal Law and Process prepared and conducted a thematic exhibition on the theme "Criminal legal protection of human and civil rights in the context of the adoption of the new Criminal Procedure Code."
Nowadays the system of protection of rights and legitimate interests of a man and citizen of Ukraine acquires a new content and varies according to the needs of society (public, legal, political, economic, cultural-educational, etc.). The need for implementation of the reform of the criminal procedural legislation which is directed on the protection of rights and legitimate interests of a man and citizen, the ratification by Ukraine a large number of regulations of the Council of Europe and the European Union, creation of effective system of legal maintenance in various areas of public life, improvement of the quality of law-making and law enforcement activities places new demands for generalization practice in the field of human rights and the legitimate rights and legal interests of a man and citizen and investigation of activity of law enforcement in this sphere. The basic idea of the new CPC of Ukraine consists in transformation of the criminal process from means of fighting with crime in the mechanism of protection of society and the person who has suffered damage as a result of the crime and the most effective and expeditious restoration of violated rights from crime. Actual task is the study and analysis of international forms and methods of protection of human and civil rights by norms of the criminal procedure law and bringing them into line with European standards. There is a real need to develop scientifically based recommendations regarding to the adoption of new regulations aimed at protection of the rights and interests of a man and citizen. The main purpose of conduction of the exhibition was the presentation of materials on criminal law protection of human and civil rights in the context of the adoption of new Criminal Procedure Code and holding discussions with visitors according to the exhibition theme.
