On May 25-26, 2023, Myroslava Olkhovik, Assistant of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Law Faculty, took part in the Kyiv Security Forum.
The purpose of the event was to maximize mobilization before the NATO summit in Vilnius, which is supposed to determine Ukraine's path to NATO membership.
The participants and the whole of Ukraine were addressed by such prominent personalities as former U.S. President George W. Bush, Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Andrius Kubilius of Lithuania. Also present were the former Prime Minister of Estonia and the current Prime Minister of Moldova. Danylo Lubkivsky, Director of the Kyiv Security Forum, noted that Ukraine's membership in NATO is an essential condition for national security, as well as a guarantee of the future of the people and their lives.
Among the invited guests were well-known Ukrainian and international political figures, including: Dmytro Lubinets, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Etienne de Poncins, Ambassador Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine, Victoria Nuland, representative of the US Department of State, Anthony Abbott, former Prime Minister of Australia, as well as experts, analysts, historians and lawyers from around the world.
The forum focused on the following key issues: accession to the EU and NATO; protection of democracy. Reforms in the areas of decentralization of power, education and other spheres; post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and development of a new Marshall Plan; bringing the aggressor country to justice, including the trial of Russians within the national judicial system with the participation of European and American observers and support; payment of reparations; development of national political and public life in the post-war period.
The forum was a great opportunity to get closer to the international community, create a network of contacts and interact with representatives of different countries. The interest of young people, scientists, politicians and other professionals in Ukrainian issues shows that Ukraine's victory will have geopolitical significance and will change all vectors of development and cooperation in the international arena.
